Details
A pleasing mix of materials and the playful addition of perforations in the brass shade make the 9209 Table Lamp (1940) an engaging addition to any home or office. This midcentury modern piece is the work of Finnish designer Paavo Tynell, who was known for using perforated metal to create a subtle aesthetic. When the lamp is on, these perforations become tiny pins of light, resulting in a warm, ambient glow. Bulb (not included): E26 base, LED recommended. Made in China.

Paavo Tynell
Known as “The man who illuminated Finland,” lighting pioneer Paavo Tynell began his career when electricity was in its infancy. In 1918 he co-founded the country’s first lighting company, bringing light to Scandinavia. But it was his ability to create indirect, atmospheric light that led Tynell to collaborate with major architects – including Alvar Aalto – designing now-iconic fixtures and lamps.
