Poul Henningsen's legacy in Danish lighting design is so significant, simply "PH" suffices. His revolutionary three-shade system, conceived in 1925, transformed residential illumination through scientific precision. The PH 4/3 Table showcases this mastery: three white lacquered aluminum shades with a commanding 40cm top shade, positioned along logarithmic curves to cast soft, diffused light downward while eliminating harsh shadows and glare. Introduced in 1966, this table lamp's substantial presence commands attention in any interior, delivering the warm, ambient glow that has distinguished discerning homes for nearly a century. Bulb (not included): 15W A-19. Made in Denmark.
  • Three white lacquered aluminum shades with substantial 40cm top shade for commanding presence.
  • Scientific logarithmic spiral design eliminates glare while directing soft light downward.
  • Hybrid model uses lower shades from 3/3 system for optimal proportions.
  • Chrome-plated brass stem and steel base complement the 1966 design's timeless appeal.

Poul Henningsen

Trained as an architect, Poul Henningsen is best known for a series of lighting fixtures that resulted from his fascination with the then-new technology of the electric light bulb. In 1925, one of these fixtures won first prize for lighting at the International Exposition of Decorative Arts in Paris. The next year it was put into production by Louis Poulsen & Co.
