Details

The VL Ring Crown Table Lamp (2025) is a reedition of Vilhelm Lauritzen's design for Radiohuset, Copenhagen – a building he designed in the late 1930s and one of the defining works of Danish functionalism. Staying true to the original, it pairs polished brass with a three-layered, glossy mouth-blown opal glass shade that casts direct light downward through the open base while diffusing a soft glow evenly around the lamp. Made in Denmark.
  • Layered glass shade diffuses light softly and evenly around the lamp.
  • Directs light downward through the open base for focused, glare-free illumination.
  • Reedition of Vilhelm Lauritzen's original design (1936–41) for Radiohuset, Copenhagen.
  • Polished brass frame and glossy, mouth-blown opal glass stay true to Lauritzen's original materials.
  • Table lamp produced by Louis Poulsen, the Danish lighting manufacturer founded in 1874.

Vilhelm Lauritzen

Vilhelm Lauritzen is credited with introducing modern architecture to Denmark in the 1930s when he designed the Daells Varehus department store in Copenhagen – furniture and lighting included. He saw architecture as “applied art for the people, never a privilege for the few,” and went on to design many notable buildings and their interiors, led by his functionalist approach and timeless aesthetic.
