Jean Prouvé created the first version of the Petite Potence Lamp (1947) for his own home in Nancy, France. It consists of a simple light bulb at the end of a long pivoting steel rod held by a steel wire, an eminently functional design later produced in various sizes. This lamp has similar proportions to its larger siblings, with compact dimensions that are ideally suited to smaller interiors, from living rooms to offices to cafés. Includes an on-cord dimmer switch. Bulb (not included): 12W/E26 LED. UL Listed. Made in Hungary.

Jean Prouvé

“Never design anything that cannot be made,” Jean Prouvé once said. His practical body of work ranged from letter openers to doorknobs, furniture to modularly constructed buildings. Prouvé always regarded himself as more of an engineer, or “constructor,” than a designer. He never designed for the sake of form alone, concentrating instead on the essence of materials, connections, and production.
