Relaunched by Cassina in 2012, Charlotte Perriand’s Nuage Shelving (1940) has a playful versatility that knows no bounds. On its own or combined, the design can serve as shelves, sideboards, storage cabinets, a double-sided or wall bookcase, or free-standing units that divide a room. A solid oak frame supports painted-oak shelves with a low-gloss finish. Aluminum sliding doors and vertical partitions add a utilitarian touch to its profile. Nuage’s varying combinations of modules create visual interplays in space, enhancing the objects it holds and lending beauty and character to living and working environments. Made in Italy.

Charlotte Perriand

Charlotte Perriand got her start as a designer in Le Corbusier's studio, including the first tubular steel designs for systematized furnishings known as “Equipement intérieur de l’habitation.” She designed buildings, interiors, and furniture, notably a prototype kitchen for Le Corbusier’s Unité d’Habitation, the London office for Air France and conference rooms for the United Nations in Geneva.
