“Chairs and stools are mostly seen from the back, so that panel was crucial,” says designer Hallgeir Homstvedt. In this way, the Contour Collection (2018) demonstrates a refined, yet striking balance of materials: a wood-sculpted frame that hems in and supports a gracefully upholstered seat and back. Designed collaboratively with Jonah Takagi, the pair developed a quietly recognizable stool with a slim frame and a broad back panel. Made in Thailand.
  • Sleek, airy stool for the bar, counter or kitchen island.
  • Solid oak or walnut frame.
  • Raw brass footrest.
  • Slim frame with a sweeping back panel.

Hallgeir Homstvedt

Halligeir Homstvedt sums up his philosophy as an attempt “to simplify as much as possible in order to get to the essence of the product.” Even in aesthetically driven product categories, he designs for improvement on what’s come before. The result: timeless, functional, tactile designs that engage the user.

Jonah Takagi

Born in Tokyo and raised in New England, Takagi studied furniture design at the Rhode Island School of Design, then worked with a cabinetmaker in Portland, Oregon. Takagi doesn’t approach his designs with a set philosophy, and self-evaluation doesn’t come naturally. “It’s a little bit hard for me to see trends or an arc when I look at my body of work, but people tell me that it’s playful."
