Details
Reintroduced from the Knoll® archives, Mies van der Rohe’s groundbreaking Tugendhat™ Chair (1929) is where architectural design meets modern comfort. Last produced in 1948, the sophisticated lounge chair delivers comfort and versatility with a sleek cantilevered base, distinctive leather strap back, and plush seat and back cushions. Mies designed the chair to work in concert with the interiors of Villa Tugendhat, a World Heritage-listed house in the Czech Republic he designed with Lilly Reich. The chair reflects the technical precision and artistic intention that defined the Bauhaus director's aesthetic. Almost 100 years later, its timeless silhouette remains comfortably at home in living, lounge, and work spaces. Frame made in Italy; cushions made in U.S.A. and assembled in U.S.A.

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
The modern city, with its towers of glass and steel, can be at least in part attributed to the influence of architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Equally significant, if smaller in scale, is Mies’ daring design of furniture, pieces that exhibit an unerring sense of proportion as well as minimalist forms and exquisitely refined details. In fact, his chairs have been called architecture in miniature.
