A table to enjoy for a lifetime, the expertly crafted solid wood Ora Coffee Table (2020) was inspired by curves and ovals, as a contrast to the hard edges and slim profiles of traditional tables. The legs are detachable via screws for shipping and getting through stairwells and narrow halls, however the rest of the table is built using classical Chinese joinery, which uses intricate interwoven joints to create furniture without the use of any nails or screws. Using this joinery system, the furniture can acclimatize in real time to changes in temperature and humidity without cracking or warping. It’s finished in low-maintenance tenna oil to reveal the natural grain and provide a durable protective barrier. Made in China.

Established in 2017, Sun at Six is a family-run design studio drawing from generations of experience. Like their mother, the Yee siblings aim to preserve classic Chinese joinery, a fading artform and system of intricate, interwoven joints that allows solid wood furniture to be handcrafted without the use of screws or nails. Their work celebrates this ancient technique in a modern context.
