What does Sommer feel like? —
Just as comfortable and laid-back as its namesake season, Sommer blurs the lines between indoors and out with its weatherproof weave inspired by traditional Danish corded furniture. This outdoor barstool has a flexible resin cord seat and footrest for added comfort.
Details
For the Sommer Outdoor Collection (2019), Copenhagen-based designer Chris Halstrøm wanted to give people the experience of indoor furniture in outdoor spaces. She transformed a traditional woven cord material found on Danish indoor furniture into a durable, weatherproof weave that provides flexible comfort and lends an inviting texture. Cushion sold separately. Made in Indonesia.

Chris Liljenberg Halstrøm
For Chris Liljenberg Halstrøm, inspiration comes from observation. “If I want to design objects for real people, I have to know about them,” she explains. Born in Glostrup, Denmark, to a Swedish mother and Danish father, Halstrøm is also naturally influenced by her Nordic roots and combines this background with an interest in the spiritual austerity of Japanese design.
