Elevated lighting Louis Poulsen partnered with the famous Danish architect Poul Henningsen to elevate lighting to the realm of great design. The company still manufactures Henningsen’s iconic works like the Artichoke and Snowball pendants to the architect’s same exacting specifications.
Founded in 1874, Louis Poulsen is a Danish lighting manufacturer that believes form follows function. The company seeks not only to design lamps, but to shape light, to create an uplifting atmosphere, both indoors and out. Louis Poulsen believes that “the shape of light creates space.” In this way, Louis Poulsen creates products that accommodate a range of spaces with designs that provide indirect, soft and inviting lighting – tailored to reflect and support the rhythm of natural light. In the early 20th century, Louis Poulsen partnered with the famous Danish architect Poul Henningsen to design lighting that is now iconic. In 1924, Henningsen created his influential Paris lamp for the firm. Today, Louis Poulsen still manufactures Henningsen’s works like the Artichoke and Snowball pendants to the architect’s same exacting specifications. In close partnership with other designers, architects and talents like Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton, Øivind Slaatto, Alfred Homann, Oki Sato and Louise Campbell, Louis Poulsen continues to operatre as a key global supplier of architectural and decorative lighting for commercial and private markets.
