Modern benches and stools are the utility players in the modern home. A living room bench can sit quietly against a wall to serve as a spot to sit and pull on slippers. Types of Benches & Stools
Storage Benches
A storage bench is a bench with built-in storage features beneath the bench seat. Such storage features may be shelves or cubbies for shoes, or whole storage compartments concealed beneath the lift-top bench seat. In an entryway, storage benches can provide indispensable storage for shoes and other accessories, while in a bedroom they can conceal additional bedding and pillows.
Entryway Benches
An entryway bench is a bench designed for use in a mudroom or entryway. These benches provide a waystation where visitors can sit to take off their shoes and outerwear before they move further into your home. For an entryway bench, consider a storage bench with a shelf or cubbies for shoes.
Dining Benches
A dining room bench is typically a backless, armless bench that can provide additional seating at your dining table. Dining benches make an ideal seat for kids, who take naturally to the shoulder-to-shoulder proximity a bench provides.
Stools
Stools, too, because of their great variety, can be used almost anywhere. A swivel stool can be found at a kitchen counter or, in a much shorter version, stationed beside the fireplace in the living room. Accent stools are simple furniture pieces designed to provide just a bit more surface storage space throughout your home.
