Cas Friese

U.S.A. (1979)
“In a world where everything is coming at us constantly, I find solace in the space behind the camera, appreciating and capturing serenity,” says fine art photographer Cas Friese. She finds quiet drama in the natural world – windswept coastlines, textural rock formations, and sun-bleached deserts distilled to abstraction. After a career as a corporate executive in fashion and luxury goods, Friese rekindled her creative passion for photography, which she had studied in high school and continued to develop as a hobby. “My life travels and creativity in my career sculpted my lens,” she says. “Once I decided to jump in fully, I knew I could only do it if I did it right – at the highest quality. A deep dive into materials, printing techniques, and working with the best in the field provided the insights to reach this point.”

Friese grew up in California, where her love of the outdoors, nature, and the ocean were nurtured. She now lives in the Northeast but travels extensively for her photography. It is her goal to eventually photograph the entire U.S. coastline. She is drawn to “subtle beauty, ethereal in nature, resulting in images that evoke a deep sense of place.”
There is beauty in the simplest of things that could be easily overlooked.
