It should come as no surprise that Philippe Starck was toying with artificial intelligence in 2019 – the renowned designer has always pushed the limits of new technologies. The upshot of his experiment with generative design is the aptly named A.I. Armchair. Crafted from recycled thermoplastic technopolymer, it’s a testament to sustainable innovation and ergonomic comfort: working collaboratively, Starck, Autodesk, and Kartell asked AI, “Can you carry our body with the least amount of material possible?” This supportive seat achieves just that. Made in Italy.
  • Artificial intelligence chair optimized for maximum comfort and minimal materials.
  • Made from recycled thermoplastic technopolymer for lasting durability, indoors or outdoors.
  • Designed by Starck, Autodesk, and Kartell – the first chair of its kind.

Philippe Starck

School dropout Philippe Starck jump-started his career by designing two nightclub interiors in Paris in the 1970s. The iconoclast designer went on to define a similarly hedonistic style of design in the 1980s and 90s. His interiors and products have sensual, appealing forms suggestive of character or personal identity, and Starck often conferred upon them clever, poetic or whimsical names.
