Founded 1938 (New York, New York)

Based in Pennsylvania, Knoll is a design and manufacturing company that has been producing the work of Eero Saarinen, Marcel Breuer, Warren Platner and others since being founded by Hans Knoll and later run by Florence Knoll. More than 40 Knoll products are in the permanent collection at MoMA.

This enveloping form continues to be one of the most iconic and recognized representations of midcentury organic modernism.
“The underside of typical tables and chairs makes a confusing, unrestful world,” said Eero Saarinen.
Making the most of limited materials during WWII, this chair was originally made with surplus parachute straps.
