The Earl of Wood Desk (2020) from Philippe Starck's "Smart Wood" collection uses patented 3D molding to bend a single layer of wood into a doubly curved form. The rounded edges serve a purpose: maximum practicality for work, writing, or simply living. A slim steel frame supports the surface with architectural clarity. As Starck notes, it's "light and timeless, a useful high-tech object." Made in Italy
  • Double curve follows the natural way you work, adapting to different tasks and angles without sharp edges.
  • Minimalist desk designed to fit small spaces – a bedroom alcove, studio corner, or living room nook.
  • Warm wood paired with a minimal steel structure creates visual lightness.
  • Authentic Earl of Wood Desk designed by Philippe Starck for Kartell.

Philippe Starck

School dropout Philippe Starck jump-started his career by designing two nightclub interiors in Paris in the 1970s. The iconoclast designer went on to define a similarly hedonistic style of design in the 1980s and 90s. His interiors and products have sensual, appealing forms suggestive of character or personal identity, and Starck often conferred upon them clever, poetic or whimsical names.
