Poul Henningsen's legacy in Danish lighting design is so significant, simply "PH" suffices. His revolutionary three-shade system, conceived in 1925, transformed residential illumination through scientific precision. The PH 4½-3 Outdoor Wall Lamp showcases this mastery: three metal shades with a commanding 45cm top shade, positioned along logarithmic curves to cast soft, diffused light downward while eliminating harsh shadows and glare. Launched in 1966, this outdoor wall fixture's substantial presence commands attention on any exterior, delivering the warm, ambient glow that has distinguished discerning homes for nearly a century. Bulb (not included): 15W E26. Made in Denmark.

Poul Henningsen

Trained as an architect, Poul Henningsen is best known for a series of lighting fixtures that resulted from his fascination with the then-new technology of the electric light bulb. In 1925, one of these fixtures won first prize for lighting at the International Exposition of Decorative Arts in Paris. The next year it was put into production by Louis Poulsen & Co.
