Furniture and interior designer Hanne Kortegaard was educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and currently serves as designer and product developer at Linie Design in Denmark, a company known for its distinct Nordic rug designs. Her work is characterized by a clean look especially focused on materiality. “The material needs to be challenged,” Kortegaard explains, “and the composition of the materials is very important for the choices I make.” Designed in the minimal Scandinavian style, her Mattia Rug (2016) is handwoven by masterful artisans on a traditional punja loom from pure New Zealand wool and just a bit of polyester, featuring ends with bands in subtly graded hues and thick fringe. Linie is a member of Care & Fair, an organization created to help fight illegal child labor and improve living conditions of carpet knotters and their families in India, Nepal and Pakistan. Made in India.
