Upon receiving a master’s degree in industrial design from Pratt in 2005, Brad Ascalon was recognized by Wallpaper* magazine as one of the “Ten Most Wanted” emerging designers in the world. He grew up immersed in art and design, with his grandfather and father both being sculptors. In creating this collection, he was inspired by Atlas, the Greek mythological character condemned for eternity to carry the heavens on his shoulders. Translating this into a physical object, Ascalon was intrigued by the challenge of making an elegant frame that could carry the weight of solid stone or thick glass. The Atlas Table (2012), like Atlas himself, exemplifies strength and endurance. The Atlas Table must ship with our White Glove delivery service. Top made in China; base made in U.S.A.
