Nearly 75% of Finland is covered by forests, with pine in greatest abundance. Yet, a century passes before each tree reaches full height – a span that the Finnish brand Vaarnii treats as both a starting point and a promise. “Our products will last at least as long as the tree took to grow,” says Antti Hirvonen, who co-founded Vaarni with Miklu Silvanto. “We hope they’ll be passed down, their marks and wear only adding to the story.”

Vaarnii works in unapologetically Finnish terms, drawing inspiration from a land of striking contrasts – one where endless summer days meet dark winter nights, and deep forests juxtapose vast, open skies. This isn’t soft-focus Nordic minimalism, but what they call “brutal and sophisticated”: honest, uncompromising, and boldly proportioned. The weight is deliberate, the offbeat proportions intentional.
