Torbjørn Anderssen and Espen Voll start with a feeling and see where it leads – a practice that’s made their Oslo studio a defining voice in New Nordic Design. Founded in 2009, it’s known for developing furniture, lighting, and home objects that are at once emotional and honest in construction. “We start designing and watch a piece take on its own personality,” they say. “It’s almost like breathing life into it.”

Worlds collide in the Brasilia Lounge Chair, Anderssen & Voll’s mix of Brazilian and Scandinavian modernism. Cylindrical front legs and rectangular back legs support a frame joined by hand, while its cushioned form – including exaggerated armrests – carries a range of tactile upholsteries.
