Designed by Ferruccio Laviani for Kartell, Big FL/Y plays with transparency and iridescence in a way that feels almost immaterial. The acrylic sphere shimmers and shifts as the light moves through the room, like a soap bubble suspended mid-air. The shade's geometry is deliberate: cut off just below the diameter, it focuses the glow downward with a gentle precision that distributes warmth rather than wash. The upshot is a lamp that hovers between sculpture and utility, casting a concentrated pool of light while softening the edges of a space. Bulb (not included): 15W LED. UL Listed. Made in Italy.

Ferruccio Laviani

Ferruccio Laviani is part of a generation of Italian designers who came to prominence with the Memphis Group. Born in 1960, Laviani studied both architecture and design. Soon after, he took part in the 12 Newcomers Memphis collection in 1986 and the Living on Earth Memphis collection in 1987, launching his career with ties to the colorful and idiosyncratic design movement.
