Designed by Bertjan Pot for Moooi
Hugely dramatic, light as a feather and distinctly Dutch, the Random Light (2001) by Bertjan Pot began as a modernist craft project of sorts. After making failed attempts at knitting fiberglass as a means of creating structure, Pot resorted to coiling a strand of epoxy-dipped fiberglass around a large balloon in varying patterns. Once the form had completely dried, the balloon was popped, leaving behind a dramatic globe-shaped form that serves as the diffuser for this stunningly airy pendant lamp. Random Light is suitable for entryways, lounge areas and dining rooms, with a light bulb visible at the center of the globe when lit, creating an all-over glow with minimal glare. Bulb (not included): incandescent 60W/A19/E26. UL Listed. Made in the Netherlands.

Dutch designer Bertjan Pot graduated from the Man and Identity department at Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands. It was there that he discovered his passion for textiles. Graduation project: a knitted lamp.
Pot teamed up with school friend Daniel White, operating under the name of The Monkey Boys, and when the two parted in 2003, he opened Studio ...
