Brooklyn ceramicist Virginia Sin's sculptural Stria 4 Sconce (2025) finds its rhythm in the ancient practice of weaving, where quiet poetry emerges through repetition. Hand-placed ceramic strips form a delicate lattice of light and shadow, their obsidian glaze catching illumination with mesmerizing depth. This study in tension and restraint casts a soft glow that adds gentle texture to any space, whether defining a reading nook or creating architectural interest along a hallway. Sin's studio champions "putting the fun into the functional" – evident in the sconce’s sophisticated interplay of form and light. Made in the USA.

Virginia Sin

Brooklyn-based ceramics studio SIN was founded by multidisciplinary designer Virginia Sin in 2006. One of her first clients was Design Within Reach, which shares her passion for “putting the fun into the functional.” From bookends to vases to candleholders, Sin’s hand-built pieces are designed to challenge the limitations of clay while bringing “some extra warmth into the world.”
