Details

The 5 O'Clock Lie Low Table (2025) is Philippe Starck's study in controlled illusion, realized through Glas Italia's precision glassmaking. Its top is curved at the perimeter – forming a raised, hand-silvered edge that distorts reflections in a way that feels designed rather than incidental – while the flat center holds a true reflection and stays practical for everyday use. Slightly inclined legs in nickel and brass-finished steel provide stability without visual weight. The table shifts with the light around it: sometimes a mirror, sometimes a surface. Made in Italy.
  • Extra clear 8mm glass top is curved at the perimeter and hand-silvered to create a raised mirrored edge.
  • Raised edge distorts reflections unexpectedly, while the flat center holds a true, undistorted mirror surface.
  • Slightly inclined legs in nickel and brass-finished steel provide stability without interrupting the table's visual lightness.
  • Designed by Philippe Starck and made in Italy using Glas Italia's advanced glassmaking techniques.

Philippe Starck

School dropout Philippe Starck jump-started his career by designing two nightclub interiors in Paris in the 1970s. The iconoclast designer went on to define a similarly hedonistic style of design in the 1980s and 90s. His interiors and products have sensual, appealing forms suggestive of character or personal identity, and Starck often conferred upon them clever, poetic or whimsical names.
