With playful curves that hold you comfortably in a variety of sitting positions, the Groovy Chair will quickly become your favorite place to relax. French designer Pierre Paulin designed the first version of this chair, the F580 model, in 1964. He continued to perfect its form over the next decade, releasing the F598 in 1973, which is the chair being sold today. To create this fluid, lightweight form, Paulin used tubular structures covered with molded foam and fabric, resulting in a laidback lair that looks as if two pieces of fabric were draped across a frame. Made in France.

Pierre Paulin

Modernist French designer Pierre Paulin was a pioneer in low-level living. While his oeuvre spans decades of modern materials, techniques, and industrial projects, he’s best known for introducing a new approach to sitting — one that bid adieu to chair legs and embraced low-slung profiles for easy, laid-back lounging. Paulin’s iconic designs figure in museums and collections around the world.
