Details
Denmark’s Ib Kofod-Larsen designed several furniture exhibitions in the 1940s and won the annual award from the Danish Cabinetmakers’ Guild in 1948. A few years later, Swedish furniture maker OPE Möbler commissioned Kofod-Larsen to design a series of Danish furniture. One of those was the elegant Seal Collection (1956), with its carefully shaped wood frames and luxurious leather upholstery. This is the authentic Seal Footstool produced by Brdr. Petersens Polstermøbelfabrik. Made in Denmark.

Ib Kofod-Larsen
As Danish Modernism expanded globally in the 1950s and ‘60s, architect Ib Kofod-Larsen became one of the most exciting figures of the movement. A trained cabinetmaker, his furniture is marked by subtle details, organic lines, and a visual lightness. Celebrated pieces include the Penguin Chair and Seal Chair, as well as Module U56, renamed the Elizabeth Chair after Queen Elizabeth II acquired two.
