Born in California, Howell grew up in the Pacific Northwest and spent years behind the camera as a music video producer-director, documentarian, and set designer before founding the Los Angeles firm Night Palm in 2016. Drawing on fashion, cinema, and music, she creates rooms with an emotive point of view – often suggesting 1970s California by way of Italy – that hold a mood the way a poem does.
