Exceptional quality, comfort, and beauty J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik founder Niels Otto Møller never compromised craftmanship when producing his now iconic chairs. Today, his legacy lives on through his granddaughter and the company’s third generation CEO, Kirsten Møller.

Ahead of his time
Together with his sons Jørgen and Jens Ole, Niels Otto Møller invested in CNC machinery that, at the time, was unheard of for furniture manufacturing – but he understood that systemizing production should never come at the cost of woodworking techniques performed by hand. The result? Chairs made to last for generations. “When you look at our chairs today, they could have been designed yesterday – or tomorrow,” Kirsten Møller says. “Their understated elegance is iconic.”

Reviving a classic
A visit from DWR to the J.L. Møllers factory in Denmark prompted an extraordinary discovery: the Model 82 Chair, an archival design from 1970. To bring it back, the chair had to be reverse-engineered – there was no original sketch. Founder Niels Otto Møller handcrafted each of his designs over time until perfected and primed for production.
True to Møller’s vision, every chair is built by hand, with no screws or nails – engineered to be strong, seamless, and long-lasting. Crafted from kiln-dried wood, its subtly contoured back offers spinal support with the grace of sculpture.
