French designer Jacques Adnet saw himself as both “innovator and classicist, an advocate for the tradition that leads us into the future.” One of the highlights of his career was a coveted collection of leather furniture he designed in partnership with French fashion house Hermès. In the same era, he created the Adnet Mirror (1950) — a rectangular mirror wrapped in luxurious, hand-stitched, full-grain aniline leather and studded with burnished brass rivets.
