Norwegian designer Kristine Five Melvær's Stein Mat (2018) features textured, curved patterns inspired by the raked stones in Japanese gardens. Highly absorbent and durable, Stein is suitable for use indoors and out with a rubber backing that prevents slippage and protects floors from moisture.

Kristine Five Melvær

Oslo-based Kristine Five Melvær chose to study design “because I considered it the most interesting intersection between my creative and analytical skills.” She earned a master’s degree in industrial design from the Oslo School of Architecture and Design in 2008. Her work is an eclectic mix of graphic design, furniture, lighting, tableware, glassware, pillows, and blankets.
