Sarah Ellison designs a special-edition Float Sofa
Inspired by the 8 boldly hued stripes of Gilbert Baker’s original 1978 Pride flag, Sarah Ellison has designed a special-edition rainbow Float Sofa to support LGBTQIA+ rights and celebrate community. You can see the Pride Float Sofa at DWR West Hollywood until June 29, and at DWR Miami from June 17–29.
These two special-edition Float Sofas will be auctioned for charity, with all proceeds benefitting Outright International – a nonprofit advocating for the rights and freedoms of LGBTQIA+ people globally. The live auction will take place July 18.
Online bidding is now live via LA Modern Auctions! Place your online bid now.
“We designed the Float Sofa to ignite conversation,” says Sarah Ellison cofounder Leigh Mckeown. “We’re a small team of talented and diverse individuals, many who are members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and as a queer leader of a design brand, we know firsthand that conversation, collaboration, and community are our biggest assets – whether in business or the world at large.”

The many colors of Pride
While the Float Sofa’s 8 stripes represent the original Pride flag, the lush floral installation in Australia by Hermetica Flowers’ Jai Winnell incorporates the additional colors of the intersex-inclusive 2021 Progress Pride flag by Valentino Vecchietti.
Exciting new floral installations by Maurice Harris of Bloom & Plume will incorporate a similar palette in both West Hollywood and Miami.
