Description

Design story.

When Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick designed the Herman Miller Aeron Chair (1994), they combined a deep knowledge of human-centered design with never-before-seen technology to create a task chair unlike any other. In 2016, Don Chadwick evolved his chair to incorporate 20 years’ research in the science of sitting, as well as advancements in materials. “We really started from the ground up,” he says. “The result better supports the type of work we do today.” The changes include a new suspension system, better spine support, re-engineered tilt and more. It’s more lively, more responsive and more sensitive to body size. In other words, it’s everything the world loves about Aeron, plus more. This is the authentic Aeron Chair produced by Herman Miller. Made in U.S.A.

Features and benefits.

Adjustable PostureFit SL Support: SL refers to the sacral/lumbar region, which is the base of the spine up to the midback. This backrest supports the spine while maintaining the natural forward tilt of the pelvis, with two pads that flex independently to support your lumbar and stabilize the base of the spine for a more powerful seated posture. Breathable 8Z Pellicle Suspension Seat and Back: eight latitudinal zones of varying tension provide comfortable support while permitting air circulation to keep you cool. Seat Tilt Mechanism: Whether leaning forward or reclining back, Aeron supports you through the entire range of motion, keeping your movements smooth and balanced.

Find your size.

Aeron is available in three sizes so you can find a perfect fit. Size Small is recommended for height 4'10"–5'9", weight 90–150 lbs. Size Medium for height 5'2"–6'6", weight 130–325 lbs. Size Large for height: 5'3"–6'6", weight 180–350 lbs.

  • The perfect balance of ergonomics and comfort.
  • You’ll sit naturally while also being supported.
  • Breathable fabric keeps you cool and comfortable.
  • Adjustable tilt and seat angle, plus superior back support.
  • Fully adjustable arms (height, depth and angle).
  • Constructed of 53% recycled materials.
  • 12-year warranty.

Chairs are for sitting on. It sounds obvious, but there are designers who seem to miss that point. Not Don Chadwick, however, who has developed some of the best chairs on the market – including the Aeron Chair with Bill Stumpf – by emphasizing the body and the fact that bodies move.

Chadwick calls his hands-on studio in Santa Monica an “experimental ...

What does jazz have to do with design? Everything, according to Bill Stumpf, who once said that he liked to collaborate with other designers the way a jazz trio improvises, playing together with no fixed destination. The approach requires complete attention, and you have to trust your instincts. Design should make room for spontaneity and discovery, said Stumpf, “blending the pleasure ...

Quality chair
Just arrived today. I was very hesitant to purchase such an expensive chair, but my old $80 executive chair from Staples was going bad... and I was willing to afford the upgrade to last at least a decade. Had a few decade-old models at work so I knew ahead of time what kind of chair it was.

My only complaint is that the standard/non-adjustable arms are a bit too low for my taste, though that's completely my fault for not paying the extra 100 or so dollars to upgrade them to height-adjustable. Since it's my fault for not wanting to spend the extra money, and probably not worth a return/refund I won't take a star away, since the chair is very high quality and deserving of 5 stars.

Back support is very nice, the mesh you sit on is very comfortable, and build quality is fantastic.

overall quality chair
i feel weightless sometimes while sitting and the build is great.

only thing is i kinda wish the edges weren’t hard plastic. sometimes i like to fold on leg under the other and this chair keeps me from doing (might be a good thing), but i’d like to.

Everything is great, while forward tilt function can be improved.
The only function I'm not satisfied with is forward tilt, since it couldn't be locked at that position. More specifically, I couldn't sit firmly and comfortably without the chair back support, but it lacks that steady support while at forward tilt status. I sincerely hope forward tilt can lock the chair at that position.

Good Chair
The chair was comfortable however it didn't do enough for my back pains to justify the cost. I have unfortunately since returned it. While owning it I enjoyed teh adjustability, and the lumbar support was decent however I wish it had gone a little higher.

My negatives include price as mentioned, and as someone who likes to sit cross legged unfortunately the plastic frame digs into my feet when I have them up.

Greatest chair I have ever sat on!
Super expensive, but one of the best things I have ever bought. If you spend a lot of time sitting down it's worth the investment. Incredible chair, really enjoying it!

Most comfortable chair I have ever had
Once the chair is adjusted most adjustments don't need to be touched again. Flexible good support extremely comfortable. This is my 3rd one. I love them.

Almost perfect...
The Aeron is the most comfortable chair I have ever owned. I ordered it with ever option available.

My favorite feature is that this is the quietest gliding chair I have ever owned. Whatever these casters are made of is incredible, completely silent on my Vitrazza Glass Chair Mat.

The Aeron is almost perfect; and it can be improved in only a few areas as follows:

The adjustable Lumbar & Posturefit could be redesigned to adjust a bit easier. I am unable on mine to lower where the support sits in the small of my back and it needs to be about an inch lower for perfect fit.

The Adjustable arm rests are really nice, but sometimes I wish I could swing them down and move the completely out of the way so that my arms are completely free on the sides…. If only there were a hinge of some sort for each arm rest that I could use to swing/rotate them both down and out of the way…. I also do not like that when I sit, I tend to use my arms to 0ease my self into the chair by putting my hands on the arm rests, and my weight sends them flying forward. There should be a lock on them, so that for each position forwards and back, they can be locked into place.

Finally I wish there were a matching factory headrest option. Sometimes I want to just lean back and rest my head against something as well for a minute while I think…. I am not too keen on the 3rd party options out there.

Amazing chair
It arrived pre-built. It’s strong, sturdy, flexible, and most importantly, comfortable. Would buy again, but this one bankrupt me.
