Yanagi Butterfly Stool
Yanagi Butterfly Stool
The concept of symmetry is beautifully manifested in the joined wings of Sori Yanagi's Butterfly Stool. Executed using the pressed plywood molding technique invented by Charles and Ray Eames, this graceful stool marries ancient Japanese forms with modern Western materials. First designed and manufactured in 1954, it now resides in the Museum of Modern Art and Metropolitan Museum of Art, among other fine museums worldwide. The maple stool has chrome finished hardware. Simple assembly required.
