In designing the Miro Bed (2020), designer Gabriel Tan had several must-haves in mind: functionality, beauty, comfort, and ease of changing sheets. Mission accomplished. This bed has a soft and generous headboard that’s angled, much like the back of a sofa, to create a comfortable place to read, work on a laptop, or watch TV. Its platform was inspired by the idea of a raft, “where one is floating on a platform of comfort and safety,” he says. The wide border around the mattress crafted in solid wood with beautifully rounded corners also serves as a useful space for placing books and phones. Frame made in Malaysia, headboard made in Italy.
