Florence Knoll Bassett took a holistic view of interior space planning. As director of the Knoll Planning Unit in the 1950s, her “total design” approach embraced everything about a space – including the furniture. The Florence Knoll Table (1954) has the simple architectural lines and unparalleled construction of all modern classics. It’s topped with solid marble and stands on a polished chrome base. Made in Italy.

An early protégée of Eero Saarinen, Florence went on to study architecture at Cranbrook. She is famous for her philosophy of “total design,” and as the director of the Knoll Planning Unit she revolutionized interior space planning.
