Based in Brooklyn, Egg Collective was founded by designers Hillary Petrie, Stephanie Beamer and Crystal Ellis in 2011. What makes them unique is how they adeptly meld their individual areas of expertise – architecture, art and woodworking – to create sculptural, heirloom-quality modern furniture that evokes their own personal histories and memories of family and friends. The Emmy Collection (2019) originated from Beamer’s cousin, Mary Elizabeth, fondly known as Emmy, who’s named after her grandmother and shares a strength of character and brightness. Its look is both tailored and relaxed, with a curved frame that creates cozy corners to curl up in while also adding fluidity to the form when seen from different angles. “The Emmy Sofa speaks to multiple generations,” says Beamer. “Youthful yet mature like her namesake, it resonates with a sense of modernism and tradition. It’s a place to feel at home.” Made in Canada.
