Studio 7.5

The designers of Berlin-based Studio 7.5 share an attention to the smallest of details, or what they call EMC – every molecule counts. “If you ask specifically for what terms we use,” explained partner Claudia Plikat prior to her death in 2013, “there is one German word: It’s called einfach – simple, but not too simple.” It’s the concept of being on a mission to boil things down to their essence.

High quality, comfortable chair
High quality materials and comfortable. I hope it lasts!

Painful design disaster
The Cosm brand has proven that one size fits all designs don’t work for all. After more than a year with this miserable chair I’ve realized my hip and back pains are likely made worse by lack of lumbar and tilt adjustments in this disaster of a design. Before getting rid of this fail from HM I wanted to say strongly, don’t buy this horrible chair. Save your back. Stay away from idealistic designs like this.

Pandemic Work from Home
I purchased the Cosm chair because i could get it faster than an Aeron with the options I wanted during Corona. Expect to adjust the chair height so your legs are pretty much at or just above a 90 degree angle. If you have it too low you won’t get a ton of resistance from the harmonic tilt and the chair will lean you all the way back. Pretty neat once you set it to a height that balances the chair. Other than that, it’s been a life saver for working from home.

Comfortable chair, but one main drawback
Overall, love the chair. Very comfortable to sit in for long periods of time. Good resistance so it doesn’t lean back when I don’t want to, but easy enough when I do. My only gripe is that the armrests are too far apart for me. Sitting so for table at my desk typing on a keyboard, I have to angle my elbows out a little to catch the armrests. Wish there was some adjustability there or it was a few inches closer.

Better than my Aeron
I was going to get a Sayl to replace my Aeron chair. After a long sit test, I found this more to be more comfortable than Sayl and Mirra. Reclining on this chair is much smoother than Sayl and the back doesn't cut into your shoulders.

The low back variant is not as comfortable for someone tall and I opted against the high back in case I get too relaxed while seated

Very disappointed
The chair came it broken and still waiting for replacement in which supposedly to be sent on 10/24/19 yet didn’t get any shipping detail as of now.

Lack of ergonomic support
The chair has only 1 function, adjustment of height, that's all. You can't even lock the chair upright.

No tilt limiter.
No tension control.
No adjustable lumbar.
No fully adjustable arms.
No seat depth adjustment.

If the chair's default adjustment is not suitable, which was what I was facing, that's it.

Chair is great
The chair is much better than I hoped it would be. I have a bad back and this chair was very helpful.

I have no idea why I let my back suffer all this while without a proper work chair. My back issues have improved dramatically, especially my neck and slump. They must have done a good amount of research to create this specific chair, it provides comfort and ergonomic back care for sure. I love the mesh feature, it cradles me like a solid hammock throughout the day and I'm so glad I've made the investment.

Only one flaw, but it's major
If it weren't for one glaring flaw, this would be the best chair I have ever sat in. The mesh provides remarkable support while remaining breathable. The construction felt bullet proof. The look is super sexy.

The issue? You can't lean back without any amount of weight or you end up fully reclined. This was intentional on HM's part as the chair is supposed to sense your weight and recline the perfect amount. Trouble is, it doesn't work right. Mine let me fall all the way back after putting maybe 40% of my weight backward.

This chair is perfect, except that I had to return it.
