Details

An artisanal feat of engineering, the Rey Collection (1971) by Swiss designer Bruno Rey has been relaunched thanks to HAY and Swiss furniture maker Dietiker. The Rey Dining Stool’s screwless wood-to-metal construction connects its gently rounded seat to tall, slender legs to create an elegant, uncluttered silhouette. A chrome-plated steel footrest fortifies the beech wood frame. Balancing lightness and strength, it’s suited to a range of settings – from kitchen islands to workspaces. This iconic design has been updated in a variety of colors selected by HAY. Made in Hungary.

Bruno Rey

Born in 1933, Swiss designer Bruno Rey began his career as a cabinetmaker’s apprentice. He went on to study at the Zurich School of Applied Arts, and opened his own studio in 1968, working on an innovative chair design that was mass produced in 1971 by Dietiker in Stein am Rhein. Originally called the 3300 chair, it later became known as the Rey – the most successful Swiss chair of all time.
