The DWR Diamond Quilt (2012) takes the same strong geometric shapes found in Judy White’s Diamond Sheet Set and reconstructs them in a scaled-down monochromatic version. Its design evolved from a collage of cut-out paper, a tactile representation that allowed White to work in more of a 3-D fashion. “What I loved about the Diamond Quilt, once it was stitched and finished, was that it had the effect of a piece of origami that had been unfolded,” explains the designer, who’s designed tableware and giftware for the likes of Calvin Klein. Inspired by the composition of the Case Study Houses, White chose colors for the quilt that represent raw building materials such as stucco, steel and glass, resulting in a set of building blocks that make it easy and fun for you to create your modern bed. Cream, sienna and grey quilts are finished with a darker border; white quilt has a matching white border. Machine washable. Made in Italy.
Judy White's passion for design comes from a love of exploring and adventure. Whether she's working on bedding, tableware, lighting, textiles or travel accessories, she's driven by the discovery of solutions that lead to the realization of new products. Based in New York, White has international design experience in all aspects of home furnishings. She trained as an industrial designer, studied the fine arts and has an expertise in art history, but the greatest gift to her career was the time she spent working as a product designer in Japan. Surrounded by a culture "where a refined aesthetic and great design are exhibited in all aspects of everyday life was a defining point in my career," explains the designer. Read more >
