“Furniture pieces are more than just pieces – they’re objects for memories and emotions,” says GUBI CEO Marie Kristine Schmidt. Her vision shapes a collection that spans nearly a century of modernism: reviving authentic icons like Pierre Paulin’s F300 Chair and Tobia Scarpa’s Elogio Sofa, while shaping future classics with today’s leading designers. “We stand on the shoulders of the past,” Schmidt says, “and we can see that in the designers that live today.” Rooted in history and alive in the present, GUBI bridges decades, continents, and perspectives – designing furniture for the moments that shape a lifetime.
Conceal and reveal
Carlo Nason’s 1969 Lotus Table Lamp is a rarity – only available for a few years before it went out of production. GUBI’s reissue celebrates the Italian designer’s material mastery. His work “sits closer to art pieces than traditional product designs,” notes GUBI CEO Marie Kristine Schmidt.
For the lamp, Nason employed “pulegoso” – a 1920s Murano method that creates a semi-opaque texture with small air bubbles. The result? Less glare, more glow.
